he Project Manager leads the installation and implementation of DATAllegro appliances at customer sites. This will require general knowledge of common project management methodologies with an emphasis on data migration and conversion of large database systems. In addition the successful candidate will have working knowledge of a Unix Shell Script (PERL, C Shell, Korn Shell) and extensive experience writing SQL against an enterprise scale database system.

The DATAllegro team-based culture emphasizes a customer focused, solution building approach in the delivery of its state of the art database technology. Excellent communication, presentation and team building skills are required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead technical discussions on DATAllegro data warehouse appliance technology (hardware, software, database, storage) in post sales implementation discussions and meetings.
  • Responsible for requirements gathering, customer expectation management and project management of post sales implementation projects. Serves as primary point of contact for customers and other DATAllegro organizations to resolve technical issues.
  • Meets directly with client’s executives to understand organization strategic objectives. Actively identifies additional solution components to help achieve these objectives.
  • Provide innovative, script based, solutions to solve short-term customer requirements within the context of the Linux based DATAllegro server and database technology.
  • Provide recommendations to customers for best practice ETL, architecture, and application based use cases within the DATAllegro distributed database technology.
  • Responsible for management and coordination of appliance installations.
  • Develop and execute strategy and project plan for migration of customer data to appliances, integration with ETL processes and integration with BI environment.
  • Assess project success and challenges post-mortem and provides formal written project evaluation.
  • Serve as a technical resource at industry conferences and other marketing events.
  • Deliver onsite training to customers.
  • Mentor partners and other consultants on DATAllegro products by leveraging knowledge, expertise, leadership and inter-personal skills.
  • Understand competitive products such as Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, DB2, etc.
  • Understand products from business partners such as Informatica, Business Objects, Hyperion, MicroStrategy, SAS, etc.
  • Stay current in new technologies, as well as new opportunities to develop knowledge pertinent to the company’s goals
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of DATAllegro methods, techniques, processes and practices.
  • Author Tech-notes and white papers for use in presales activities and publication in DATAllegro web site.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as needed. Travel required up to 85% of worked days.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Proven pro-active leader and self-starter with the ability to drive implementation projects to success (i.e., on time, within budget, exceed customer expectations).
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills including the ability to write technical documentation.
  • Ability to successfully manage projects for multiple clients simultaneously. Ultimately responsible for project success
  • Excellent data warehouse background that includes data modeling, architecture, ETL development, BI development and project management.
  • Excellent presentation skills and polished/professional demeanor.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills. Able to troubleshoot issues throughout the data warehouse appliance stack.
  • 8+ years previous data warehousing consulting/project management experience
  • 4+ years working at a computer software and/or hardware vendor. Previous experience in storage solution sales and implementation a plus.
  • DBA level skills in at least one major database (i.e., Oracle, Teradata DB2).
  • Expertise in SQL, stored procedures and user defined functions.
  • Strong Windows, Unix and Linux skills with experience in scripting.
  • Proficient in the use of ETL and/or BI tools.
  • Knowledge of Java, Java Script and Web servers a plus.
  • Expertise with MS Office, including MS Project and MS PowerPoint.
  • Self directed and a team player.
  • Ability to travel on short notice.
  • Bachelor degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired. Masters or MBA degree a plus.
