The Sales Consultant (SC) provides presales and post sales technical support to prospects and customers. The successful candidate will be a self starter, customer focused, process oriented person with an extensive background in data warehousing, software and/or hardware sales, database technology and project management. Strong communication, presentation and team building skills are required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead technical discussions on DATAllegro data warehouse appliance technology (hardware, software, database, storage) in presales discussions and meetings.
- Responsible for requirements gathering, customer expectation management and project management of presale proof of concept projects. Serves as primary point of contact for prospects and POC organization to resolve technical issues.
- Develop proposed data warehouse appliance architecture and configuration for prospects.
- Collaborate with customer team participants, POC team leads, account executive and engineering to assure project success.
- Assist in management and coordination of appliance installations.
- Develop strategy and project plan for migration of customer data to appliances, integration with ETL processes and integration with BI environment.
- Participate in RFI and RFP responses to customers.
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of DATAllegro methods, techniques, processes and practices.
- Serve as a technical resource at industry conferences and other marketing events.
- Perform other duties as required.
- Be available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week as needed
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Proven pro-active leader and self-starter with the ability to drive decisions and consensus, and to resolve technical issues.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills including the ability to write technical documentation.
- Experience in successfully conceptualizing and selling technical solutions to new clients.
- Ability to successfully manage multiple activities (presales, POC, implementation) for multiple clients simultaneously.
- Strong data warehouse background that includes data modeling, architecture, ETL development, BI development and project management.
- Strong presentation skills and polished/professional demeanor.
- Strong project management skills.
- 5+ years previous consulting/project management experience, including software or hardware industry experience.
- 2+ years in computer software and/or hardware experience required. Previous experience in storage solution sales and implementation a plus.
- DBA level skills in at least one major database (i.e., Oracle, Teradata DB2).
- Expertise in SQL and stored procedures.
- Strong Windows, Unix and Linux skills with experience in scripting.
- Working knowledge of ETL and/or BI tools.
- Knowledge of Java, Java Script and Web servers a plus.
- Expertise with MS Office, including MS Project and MS PowerPoint.
- Self directed and a team player.
- Ability to travel on short notice.
- Bachelor degree in a related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be acquired. Masters or MBA degree a plus.
