DATALLEGRO RELEASES DATALLEGRO V3 ON AN ENTERPRISE-CLASS PLATFORM
New Version of Data Warehouse Appliance Adds Leading Technologies from EMC, Dell and Cisco as Well as Improved Reliability and Performance
TDWI Las Vegas, NV – February 20, 2007 – DATAllegro™, supplier of the most advanced data warehouse appliance on an enterprise class platform, today announced a new version of its product. DATAllegro v3™ combines a new version of DATAllegro’s patent-pending software with Cisco® Infiniband switches, Dell™ servers, EMC® storage, Ingres®’ open source database, and Intel® quad-core CPUs. (For more information on Cisco, EMC and Ingres relationships, see press releases from today.) The result is a complete data warehouse appliance (software, hardware, storage and database) with enterprise-class reliability and performance. As of today, two DATAllegro v3 appliances, each with more than a hundred terabytes of capacity, have been purchased by US-based customers. DATAllegro is also in upgrade discussions with its existing customers.
“One of the many benefits to using an open, flexible platform is having the strength of so many of the industry’s leading companies behind us,” said Stuart Frost, CEO of DATAllegro. “First generation, proprietary solutions aren’t able to leverage partnerships with companies like Cisco, Dell, EMC, Intel and Ingres. We are already seeing a benefit to our market presence and to our customers.”
DATAllegro v3 comprises two product lines – DATAllegro MRA (Multi-Rack Appliances) and DATAllegro SRA (single rack appliances). Starting as low as $24,000 per terabyte, the MRA product line can grow from fifteen terabytes up to a petabyte and is designed to handle the most complex data warehouse challenges. The SRA product line includes DATAllegro SRA12, which is a complete data warehouse in a single rack with a maximum of 12 terabytes of user capacity. Priced at $499,000 the SRA12 includes back up, failover and a warm spare.
“Unlike data warehouse solutions based on proprietary platforms, our more flexible architecture allows us to leverage leading technologies so we can focus our innovation on our software,” said Stuart Frost, CEO of DATAllegro. “Moreover, DATAllegro v3 is still an appliance, which means that it is pre-tuned and optimized so customers don’t have to spend huge amounts of money on doing it themselves.”
