DATALLEGRO ANNOUNCES BACK UP UNIT FOR
DATA WAREHOUSE APPLIANCES
DATAllegro B25 Quickly and Efficiently Stores up to
25 TB of Data
Gartner BI Summit, Chicago, IL - March 6, 2006 – DATAllegro, supplier of data warehouse appliances that lead the industry in price and performance, today announced a new product. Priced at $150,000, DATAllegro B25 is an add-on product to DATAllegro’s data warehouse appliances that can be used for backing up or storing up to 25 terabytes of user data.
Backing up a data warehouse is traditionally a long process that interrupts the day-to-day operation of the data warehouse. Because of this, back ups are infrequently performed by most companies, which results in a significant risk to the business should their data become corrupt. DATAllegro B25 can back up data at a rate of one TB every 12 minutes, making the backup process much less tedious and time consuming. It can also restore a table or database at equivalent speeds.
In addition to backing up data, DATAllegro B25 can also be used as a staging area for exporting and importing data to and from the data warehouse. Companies can export data to environments such as SAS as well as large-scale data marts, and import data from ETL tools such as Informatica. By using a staging area that is integrated with the data warehouse appliance, customers are able to more quickly extract and import large volumes of data.
DATAllegro B25 can also be used for repartitioning data and as a holding area for data while a DATAllegro appliance is being expanded.
